Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (750ml) bottle apple cider
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 15 caramel candies
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 (750ml) bottle moonshine
  • 1/2 cup caramel vodka (optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine the apple cider, apple juice, cinnamon sticks, cloves, brown sugar, white sugar, and caramel candies in a large pot.
  2. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for at least 1 hour, or until the flavors are well infused and the candies are melted.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in the spices (nutmeg, ginger, allspice). Let cool slightly.
  4. Add the moonshine and caramel vodka (if using). Stir to combine.
  5. Bottle the mixture in mason jars or other airtight containers. Seal and store in a cool, dark place for at least 24 hours, or up to 2 weeks for a stronger flavor.

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the amount of spices and sweetness to your taste.
  • You can use store-bought caramel sauce, but making your own will give you more control over the flavor and consistency.
  • If you don’t have whole cinnamon sticks, you can use ground cinnamon. However, the sticks will release their flavor more slowly and evenly.
  • Be sure to use moonshine that is safe to drink. You can find clear or flavored moonshine at most liquor stores.
  • These recipes can be easily doubled or tripled for larger batches.
