Ingredients

Scale

For the Steak:

  • 4 chicken cube steaks
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

For the Gravy:

  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

For the Steak:

  1. In a shallow dish, mix together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Dredge each cube steak in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Fry the cube steaks until golden brown and cooked through, approximately 4-5 minutes per side. Place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

For the Gravy:

  1. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  2. Whisk in flour to create a roux, cooking for 1-2 minutes until lightly browned.
  3. Gradually whisk in milk, ensuring no lumps form. Cook, whisking constantly, until the gravy thickens.
  4. Season the gravy with salt and black pepper to taste.

Notes

Serve the Chicken Fried Steak hot, smothered in creamy gravy, and enjoy the taste of Southern comfort brought to you by Chili’s!
